I love these live videos Gabrielle Glancy is doing every week on the subject of writing college essays.  Glancy is knowledgable, dynamic and insightful and there is no one with more energy and expertise in the field.  Every week I send the link to my students as a way to expose them to amazing college essays and to show them how to go about writing one . . .

In this short, but informative video, I read two very different essays and speak about the processes by which they were written.

One weaves together moments that seemed disparate but were actually connected.  This essay helped the student get into MIT.

The other essay unpacks a very loaded experience of being white and protesting gun violence and the treatment of black people in our society.
